From September 16 to October 14, 2021 Galerie von Vertes presents the online exhibition Let Me Have Fun! The exhibition investigates the element of play and having fun in the creative process of the artist as well as that of the spectator who experiences it. The exhibition features artists like Alexander Calder, Jean Dubuffet, Keith Haring, Yayoi Kusama, Niki de Saint Phalle, Günther Uecker and Erwirn Wurm who emphasized the importance of play in their works.
According to Johan Huizinga who wrote „Home Ludens“ there would be no society nor culture without the element of play. Having fun is the most significant element within play. Through play people are able to learn and experience freedom. As play is connected to no material interest no profit can be gained from it. Fun and learning therefore have a deeper impact on the person who experiences it then for example the impact of the act of purchasing. Let Me Have Fun! explores the various ways of expression through element of play by exhibiting fun works of art in a playful exhibition.
